Nothing to report but I'm here anyway

So yeah - as the title implies - there's nothing going on - but I feel obliged to write something here anyway.

Small rant - I'm disappointed in the lack of preg-belly going on right now.  I saw a picture of a friend of a friend who has the cutest belly at 17 weeks!!  I'm 20 tomorrow - where's mine?  I thought it was supposed to be here by now.  And I dare anyone to tell me - just wait til 30something weeks, you'll take it back - just saying! ;)

Um - going to the doc Wednesday for an ultrasound - I think we get a DVD of interesting things going on - so hopefully that will be interesting enough for the blog...

Changing table should be in this week I think! (Thank you Chris & Dan!)  Sam has already threatened me if I decide to put it together before he gets home - that's HIS job - haha!  Gotta love him!

William's New Dresser

Courtesy of BOTH his parents

I did paint, I was responsible for the detail painting, but I'm not putting the documentation on here because I'm wearing maternity jeans and a tank top and no one should me like that...  ;)

Totally ridiculous....

I have been awake since 3:00!!!  (It's 7:24 am right this very second..)  I woke up because Sam was snoring, or something very much like it, and because he continued to snore (which always makes me mad) I couldn't get back to sleep and finally just gave up.  Lucky me...

SOO - I've been planning the nursery every since.  Sam decided last night that he wants to do some nursery project this weekend - and he picked the dresser.  And we though that since all the other furniture is so very traditional wood that the dresser could be the one very fun piece in the room.  That involved many "suggestions" from Sam while I thought about how to do it that would make me happy and maybe him too...  The final decision was simple green bunnies with the dragonfly on the drawer fronts and the pretty grasses on the side panels with a green top.  I'm sure I'll post pictures when it's done - unless we aren't nearly as crafty as I think - in which case - we will just end up painting it one color and who really needs to see that?! ha!

But that was actually planned before I went to bed...

When we went to the Biltmore House, Daddy & Sara took us to their favorite art gallery in town and there were  THE COOLEST metal tree wall sculptures - which we desperately wanted for the nursery - but seeing as how our favorite one was $1,100 - that wasn't going to happen - and we've been brainstorming ever since.  I did find a metal sculpture online that's pretty darn cool but definitely not a tree - but for 1/10 of the price (I know that fraction isn't exactly right - but whatever - it's close) and then very early morning I came across this website, www.rompstore.com, off a random crafting blog I ended up on...it's been a long morning.  And it's REALLY cool - and much larger - which is always better.
NOT $1,100!!Super Cool & BIG!

I wish I had a scanner - I would upload my rough sketch of the nursery that I did around the 6 o'clock hour...haha - it's pretty cool looking - now hopefully Sam will approve all the pretty things I've decided to do on the walls.  He says I can do whatever I want - but I don't believe him.  I think he thinks that he still gets a veto power - but that's not exactly how I would interpret "do whatever you want" - just me...

And what do you know - when you're awake this early - you can see the sunrise out the window - huh.  Pretty pink sky.

18 weeks and counting

I think I'm very close to having a REAL preggers belly! Yay!!  Don't really know what else to say about that.  I'm still feeling good - which it's interesting to get questions about how I'm feeling since I'm well into the 2nd trimester and should be feeling great - which I am... I think some people expect me to still feel like poo - and like I've already mentioned - I definitely got the lucky side of the stick when it came to morning sickness...anyhow.

Went up to Cleveland this weeekend after picking Sam up at the airport (he went to Toronto for business for a couple days) and hung out with Mom, James, & Kalin on Saturday.  Played a card game that's kinda like scrabble but so much better...!  And mom gave us Mother's Day & Father's Day gifts since "she never sees us" and that was pretty surreal and cool.  I guess we're real live parents now - and that is just weird.  Sometime in the next six months we'll have to become crazy responsible now and figure out how to make all those big decisions without screwing up our kid....  Ahh!!!  Wish us luck!

Then Sunday we went up to the Biltmore House with Daddy & Sara.  That place is crazy cool.  It was so weird - because I had learned about it in my landscape architecture class - and then I as there.  I wish I had remembered more of what we learned - and that it had been a nicer (non-raining) day so we could've spent more time in the gardens - but the estate is insane.  Seriously - I think it's my new Disneyland.  (not that I ever really cared for Disneyland a whole lot - but if I did - this would replace it)  They got us the headsets so when we were walking around there was a little voice telling us the interesting parts of the house - and that was awesome - learned some really cool things.  Though - the house is so big - they really need an intermission when you finally get to the fourth floor before you do the floors all over again learning different things.  The house is so big - I needed a snack and a break...  :)

The only thing was is that a lot of people brought their children to the Biltmore House and I understand wanting them to see the history/culture - but keep them under control please!  About 45 minutes after we got there - all the people showed up and it was awful.  Rude children everywhere - not minding anyone - and feeling wholly entitled to push around everything - it was not fun.  I just don't understand what their parents thought they were going to get out of the tour.  They don't care about history or the fact that to build something of this magnitude at the time is a major feat in and of itself...  AND they refused to even try to keep them quiet and respectful.  I realize this next statement will probably be something I will have to eat later in life - but my child(ren) will not behave that way in public.  Just saying.

So - besides that little rant - it was a really great weekend.  Fun with my parents, fun with Sam, and we got a kick ass magnet and apparently some delicious Merlot from the winery - I had grape juice...

OH! One more shout out - our First Anniversary gift from Dad & Sara was finally framed and hung this weekend - it's lovely. We hung it by the front door so we could look at it everyday, instead of the sunroom - where it looked GREAT - but we would never see it...  (Cala Lillies were the bouquet flowers at our wedding btw - so it's kinda impressive that my dad remembered and picked out the print - nevermind that he framed and matted it as well)  Thanks y'all!!!

Almond Joys have nuts - Mounds don't...

First of all - I would like it noted - that I knew the appropriate jingle and Sam did not...

Now that that's out of the way - we're having a BOY!!!  Which is pretty darn exciting!  And as much as I wanted to buy little dresses - we always wanted a boy first - so it's pretty nice of the baby to meet our demands.  Sam is super excited - and his dad, I hear from his secretary, is VERY excited!  (which is adorable)  So - yeah - there you have it.

OH!  The name we picked out is William Thomas - our dad's first names - gotta keep it in the family.  And he will be called William.  There will be NO shortening/nickname - I am VERY firm on this - the whole reason I picked William is because I have though it was a beautiful name.  Just saying.  Of course, he (the baby) can decide to shorten it - but that's out of my control I guess...  Ok - I'm off my soap box...  I can't wait!

Now - if we could just sell the house so we could actually work on the nursery - that would be exciting!!

At the risk of seeming hypocritical...

My wonderfully obsessive husband went online to do some research about those 3d/4d(?) ultrasounds that you can do early to find out the gender - and lo and behold - found out that we could do it for a slightly reasonable price.  Which was just low enough that he could try and make a case for it.  Of course.  Gotta love him.

Even though I think it's ridiculous and silly to spend the money - he managed to get an appointment for tomorrow morning.  Of course.  So at some point after 11:00 am we will have a DVD/pictures/etc. of our tiny little (alien looking) gender determined baby.

That's the exciting part!  We will know whether it's a boy or a girl!  I could care less about the pictures - they're are definitely going to freak me out more than a little bit - but I can know whether to buy dresses (yay!) or t-shirts(Sam will be pleased..!)

Ok - there will definitely be another post tomorrow - what what!

I'm pretty lame apparently...

Ok - so I've been playing catch-up reading all my friends' blogs - and they're so interesting - and I have seriously nothing to report.  Probably because I don't already have children - I think that's why they're interesting and not me - but I'm feeling pretty lame.  The most exciting thing that's happened all week is that I found new maternity jeans.  I'm really excited - but I don't think it should actually qualify as "interesting."  I am going to be upset when I can't wear them anymore because they're cropped and fit lovely and I haven't been able to find normal cropped jeans that look half as good as these...just saying.  But I've got atleast 6 months with these - so that will have to do.

Also - everyone on the What to Expect message boards - I have a lot of time on my hands these days... is finding out what sex their baby is.  Granted our situation is not very flush right now - but why pay a lot of money to find out something your doctor can tell you in 3-4 weeks.  It just seems silly.  Though it would be nice to have an answer when people ask - though I'm afraid that's just going make them ask more questions - and I'm not sure I want to deal with that...  Maybe I'll just tell them we're not finding out.  (I'm talking about strangers - don't get worried that I won't tell you Mom.)

OH!  It actually snowed in Columbus - I think it's a little more momentous than it snowing in Northeast Ga - sorry y'all.  I made a snowman by myself - Sam decided that since we couldn't find his gloves he was only there for documentation and moral support.  I don't remember snow balls being so heavy though...must've blocked that out.

And - can someone please tell me how to get pictures in places other than the top?  This is irritating...
