Ok ok - I'll catch you up!

A lot has happened in the week and a half I haven't posted anything. Mostly because I killed the camera the last time and had to charge the battery - but that meant we had to find the charger - you see where this is going... anyhow.

So, Daddy came down last weekend to help us with a bit of an "issue" with our laundry/back room. Simply - it was the MOST unfunctional space I've ever seen. Nevermind the traffic flow issues, and the lack of useable space trying to make sure that the dogs have adequate room to run without knocking us over, but I LITERALLY would not have been able to get clothes out of the dryer this week. I honestly thought I was going to get stuck a couple times...that would've been interesting! ;)

And good for us - my Dad is the master at all things - especially all things related to construction. So, we finally found a weekend that he could come down and help because we kind of thought that this might be slightly above our current knowledge and boy, were we right. Sam kept saying "sturdy like a wall" every time they put a stud up and when everything was said and done - that saying rang true. We did, however, acknowledge that if we had been left to our own devices, because HGTV always says putting up a wall is no big deal, that the wall probably would've fallen over and killed the laundry hampers or something. There was A LOT more involved than either of us really understood - so thank goodness my Dad is the master! (and he's retired and likes to see his kids...)

I don't have a good before pic - but hopefully the drawing above does a good enough job explaining how truly stupid the people who did the addition were - seriously - in what universe is that an acceptable solution for a laundry?! But, anyway, here's the after:

OH - I forgot the best part - I basically got to sit in a tailgate chair in the kitchen and not do anything but make conversation and try and learn what Daddy was doing. Being pregnant occasionally has perks... ;) But don't tell anyone I told you! Oh - and no, the trim is not painted, we (Sam) ran out of energy - and I don't blame him. Hopefully we'll remember to paint the trim before we move out! haha

Um - onto baby news - Went to the doctor last week and she checked and the baby has made no forward progress - so I don't think he's coming early. Maybe she'll say something good on Friday when we go again. (I now go every week btw..) Hypothetically I really don't mind waiting until the due date to have him - I like the number 17 - but in the past two weeks I think I have developed carpal tunnel and actual knee problems which are not fun. My fingers get "stuck" if I bend them and it hurts, nevermind that if they are not "stuck" they are just achy and I'm constantly popping them to try and relieve some of the pain, but I have a feeling that that is actually making it worse some how. Soaking them in cold water helps - but I can't do things and soak them at the same time - so that's a problem. And on top of that - now my knees are swollen so much that putting pressure on them, to say - get into bed or pick up something on the floor - is now ridiculously painful. It actually HURTS - which is just strange. Funny thing - my feet being canteloupes at all times is the most bearable of pregnancy issues...haha! Oh - and I suppose it goes without saying - that I now look like an unwed mother walking around in public since my wedding band finally had to come off on Monday. Sad day - I really thought I might make it to the end with it. No such luck.

37 week belly pic - for a couple hours yesterday I actually felt good - got 4 good hours of sleep and thought I would actually get dressed for the day. (about an hour after I took this pic I was in Sam's button up shirt taking a nap - so the good didn't last too long..oh well)

And one more pic - just because I LOVE it - the guys at the Workroom where I take all of my drapery/upholstery work recovered our ottoman as a gift for the baby's room - and it's just adorable! Plus, we finally found the perfect rug. (so a huge THANKYOU to everyone who contributed cash to the baby Rumer fund - we decided to spend it on a much needed, much larger, fluffy rug)

Those are green frogs on the upholstery!! Love it!

Interesting little tidbit - we've started occasionally referring to the baby in my belly as "our son", "your son", etc... Still a little weird to us - but it's really sweet when Sam says "my son". He's going to be such a good daddy - though if you've seen him with children - you already knew that. He's amazing. (plus - he's a baby whisperer!)

Baby Showering in the ATL

My awesome family through William a shower at my Grandmother's house in Atlanta this weekend. The weather was wonderful and the food was good and this baby is well prepared thanks to them! After the two hour drive - and I drove because Sam had to be on a conference call - and then the shower - I was pooped. Daddy kept telling me to go lay down, but I didn't want to miss hanging out with everyone, and my ankles were back to canteloupes which is always fun...haha! And we seriously need to get better at taking more pictures - but here's Sam & I with Daddy & Sara, and then just us. Can't wait to be able to run again and make the chins disappear. Daddy said I should get over it - I'm pregnant - but it still bothers me. ;)
I am humongous! Only 4 more weeks to go!!

Not a bad looking couple if I say so myself! :)

My New Favorite Thing

Called the doctor yesterday to see if I could take anything stronger than TUMS - and I am now in love with ZANTAC. I slept wonderfully last night - well except for getting up 4 times to go to the bathroom...but I'll take what I can get.

Belly Pics

I finally got out of bed and took a belly pic. I've been feeling guilty for not keeping up the timeline quite as well as I had planned - so here you are. 35 weeks 1 day in all my glory...haha!

And let me clarify - I HAVE been out of bed previous to 4:00 pm - I went to lunch with a friend and then cleaned up the house a little bit (obviously the cleaning did not involve making the bed...) and then I got BACK into bed. I am up most nights with either miserable indigestion or having to go to the bathroom every stinking minute - so I hardly ever feel 100%. Last night was indigestion that has carried over into the daytime hours. Really not cool - but I don't have too much longer and the doctor said I can take something besides TUMS. I love 'em - but they're not cutting it anymore unfortunately.

So back to the fun stuff... Like I said - I went to lunch with Angie and her daughter Charlotte today. They accidentally slept through the baby shower and pasta was how they decided to make it up to me. Totally unnecessary but SOO YUMMY!! Angie is due the same day I am - which is only one of the weird coincidences. We became friends when she emailed about our house on 18th Ave - yeah - that was the white one 2 houses ago...haha. They also looked at buying the monster house, but being the smart cookies they are - they thought better of it. So yeah - that's how we know each other.

She is THE Cutest preggers lady ever - all belly - I'm beyond jealous. ;) The only good thing though is that she swears by breast feeding that all the weight comes off - so I figure I do that AND get back to 4 miles+ running and I'll be fine. She did say that it took 9 months for her hips to go back to where they're supposed to be - not looking forward to that. I never really had hips - and I kinda liked it that way (only now of course) but now that they are moving OUT I have maternity pants I can't even wear out in public - it's crazy!! I don't know how I am ever going to be able to wear real clothes. I guess I'm going to have to go get a temporary wardrobe for after baby but before my beloved 8's (sometimes 6's!!) fit again...i.e. YOGA PANTS!! It'll be back to my "uniform" -haha - Sam's gonna love that!

Am I rambling - I can't keep a thought in my head - it's ridiculous. I was meeting with a client the other day and forgot entire important questions, not to mention couldn't come up with the word waiting room. It wasn't pretty. Luckily I think she thought it was amusing...I hope anyways!

Needless to say I'm ready for WT to get here. I've washed his clothes, blankets, etc. Packed the car, packed our bags, cleaned the house as much as I'm willing to do (it's ridiculous how often I have to dust), and the nursery is pretty much done. We don't have a lot of STUFF that you're supposed to have for baby - but we have the basics - and I have run out of things to do for his room - so I think it's time for him to start thinking about coming into this world. Angie asked if he had "dropped" - I have no idea. I figure the doctor will tell me...

And since I have nothing to do for the nursery - I want to work on the house -but there's nothing to be done there either, well, without spending money of course. I painted some of the laundry area - but I can't move the washer/dryer - so not even that is complete and besides there's a whole wall that needs to be moved 3 feet - so I'm not sure why I even thought that would be a productive project. It did take up maybe 45 minutes of my life on Monday though - so that was good and interesting.

There's really not that much going on - I think I might try and find some shorts and take the dogs to chase a ball in field across the street. It looks cloudy and windy so maybe it's relatively comfortable outside. We'll see.

Pretty sure I'm "Nesting"...

I decided at the beginning of this week that I was 34 weeks preggers and it was about time I had the hospital bag packed. Nevermind that so far I have had a completely uneventful pregnancy and there's probably little to no hope that WT is coming early and if he did manage to come early - we are wholly unprepared except for a pretty great wardrobe and an adorable nursery as ready. Which, quite frankly, doesn't count - we do have some diapers, but no wipes...so I guess we aren't even prepared in that category either... Anyhow - I found a list that seemed to make sense from some website with "parent" in the name, logical right?, and started gathering - this of course led to a very fun trip to Target to finish off the list. Found out later from a friend that I will have no need for the perfect pajama pants I found and that I need to wear a nightgown so I can be "checked" every four house (I really wish I could have a Dream of Jeanie moment instead of actually giving birth).

But yeah - got new nursing bras (really comfortable for being full coverage lace, oh lala haha!!), nursing tank top (seemed to make more sense for the hospital instead of the bras - but I found the bras first and don't I need those anyway?), breast pads (seriously? that's going to be interesting), resisted the urge to buy slippers since I'll be more comfortable in my flip flops, Tootsie Pops (yay!! apparently I need them because I'm not going to be able to drink/eat anything when I am officially in labor - but lollipops don't count which I don't understand - but I'm not complaining!), um - oh and the most favorite - maxi-pads - haven't had to buy those since discovering the wonderful invention of tampons a zillion years ago and seriously felt lost on the aisle and probably looked like an idiot...don't even get me started on how I feel about having to have them and what that means for what's going on - ick!! (the joys of motherhood - I don't know that we really thought this through enough! ;)

Ok - so I get my bag pretty darn close to completion and realize - oops - I probably need a bag for WT - so I've got to start all over and figure out what I need for him. Nevermind that now I have to find a bag for him and of course have it monogrammed - because that's SOO boy - haha! This leads me to buying a $16 bottle of detergent!!!!! Why would something with NO smell be more expensive than the stuff that smells good? Nevermind that it's so expensive because we have the fancy front loader washer/dryer we HAD to have, so we have to pay extra so it suds less instead of more - I think the whole world is backwards... But it was fun to wash his clothes - meant I got to reorganize the closet again - always fun! I seriously had to resist the urge to iron his socks though - they have the cutest "shoelaces" and the bows got all curly - but it's stupid to iron socks right? - seriously, someone convince me not to do it - I'm two seconds from getting them out of the drawer! haha Then I realized - we don't have any mittens - omg -we don't have any mittens!!! Did you know how hard it is to find plain white mittens - practically impossible! Found some with gray piping at WalMart that will just have to do. Still on the lookout for plain white socks that don't say I Love Mommy - I swear - that's a difficult task too. And nevermind the hats!! Those ALL say something cheesey. I just want something plain to embroider his name on - is that so hard to find without a navy blue anchor? haha Apparently. anyhow - so I'm ready - but WT's bag is so far from actually being started it's a little disturbing. But, again, little to no hope that he's coming early, so I'm sure I'm fine.

But I'm still making Sam install the carseat this weekend!!! And he now drives the Fusion daily - so he gets to look like the crazy one with a carseat and no baby for it - but I'm excited to 1. get out of the nursery and free up some serious floorspace and 2. just see it in the car!! Maybe he WILL come early just because we'll be so prepared! haha ;) No, seriously doubt it...

(Except that I'm desperately hoping that he comes in 2.5 weeks when I'm officially full term, just saying.) I'm NOT sleeping and it would be nice if WT would keep both of his parents awake all night instead of just me. It's really not fair that Sam doesn't get to share this wonderful stage of WT's pre-life - and I would appreciate some help in the area... again, just saying. :) Nevermind that everything still hurts, especially walking, and I look like a crazy person trying...haha!

House update time:

Living room still needs matching slipcovers, window treatments, and all of my favorite fabrics - but I think it can survive looking like this for quite awhile. Too bad - I already own most of the fabric and have to look at it when I go in the office - which makes me pine for it even more...I'll survive. No one died from not having the perfect window treatments that have had chosen for over 2 years that would just complete the room perfectly and really set the tone for the tone of the entire house, but I'm just rambling now ... haha!

Our hallway - we had so much artwork at the monster house - that finding room for it in this much smaller, but way cute, house has been a little bit of a challenge. Hence - our hallway holds 8 of our most favorite pictures. And nevermind that we have probably no less than 20 prints that we LOVE that we had to put in the attic. I guess we'll have to start some kind of rotation eventually... or build walls for no reason other than the need for more walls to hang pictures on! haha!

Hope I didn't ramble too much - but if I did - maybe you were slightly entertained? More next time I feel the NEED to update...

Our Weekend

There's really not much going on that terribly interesting around here, but I feel obligated to update...

Since it was a holiday weekend - Sam got Friday off - which was awesome...in theory. He decided that with the extra day of the weekend we were going to paint the dining room and get that finished. Fun fun. I hate painting. I especially hate painting pregnant as it involves standing for long periods of time. Though I am VERY thankful to be the "roller" and not the one who has to cut in. I hate that job when I'm un-prego - it's tedious and I HATE it. Just saying. It was pretty surprising actually how quickly we can get a room painted now - start to finish - probably took 5 hours and that included moving all the furniture and hanging the pictures. If there weren't so many doors - it would've been a lot faster - also - apparently some idiot before had painted the trim the same color as the walls/ceiling - so Sam had to completely repaint that too. He's such a trooper - love him!

We still need to recover the chairs, find a picture for over the pie safe, and have window treatments made - but just having the room painted is such an improvement!

While he was cutting in - I removed some of the ceiling tiles in the kitchen. Yes - you read that right - maybe the same idiot? - put up a drop ceiling in the 3 inches between the cabinets and the flat ceiling...go figure. I wasn't very good at getting the tiles down though - so I became Sam's helper. Well - we had grand plans of taking down the grid, fixing the holes where the bolts were and painting the kitchen - which would pretty much get the house fully painted (only room left would be the back room with the computer and this is room is just kinda gross and not worth it until many things are changed). We got up on Saturday went to breakfast with Sam's sisters, came back home and I got in bed because I was RIDICULOUSLY tired for some reason - and shortly after that Sam came in and said he wasn't motivated to do the kitchen. Which was fine with me - I took a 4-5 hour nap - I told you I was stupid tired. It was nice being completely lazy with Sam all day though. We hadn't done that in a LONG time. There was always SOMETHING that HAD to be done on the monster house.

Sunday - Sam got up early and went and cut his parent's grass before it got hot - and surprised me with Golden Donuts - yum yum yum!! Then we put all the boxes/STUFF that needed to go in the attic in the attic. Tons of fun - not - but atleast you can see the floor in the office now instead of piles of useless junk waiting to be stored! :) There are only 2 boxes left in the whole house waiting for us to find a home for the contents. We are out of places to store things - so they might sit in the kitchen for awhile... oh well. We did not get done with the attic in time to take showers and go to church though..haven't been in two weeks - I kinda feel like a bad person. This Sunday - definitely. Anyhow - Sam then got motivated to replace all of the outlets and switches in the house - so now that's done. It looks so much better with shiny white outlets and faceplates - small but important difference! And the best part - we didn't but 8 "contractor" boxes of outlets like at the monster house. It's amazing how much more affordable fixing up a small house is!! I love it! (not that the contractor boxes are expensive - but we spent a small fortune on them at Forest..just saying)

OH! I totally forgot about the Fourth of July! We spent all day, our lazy day, smoking ribs and a porkloin and then Sam's sisters came over and helped us eat it. Well, actually Sam & I did most of the eating - but I was surprised to see that Tasha actually tried everything, except the ribs, but still, it was more than I thought she would do. Then we hung out and tried to get the baby to move so Laura could feel him - he was being surprisingly chill all evening - but finally moved a little bit - Tasha wanted no part of it...haha...it is a little strange I guess...I try not to think about it too much. Then it was off to the fireworks downtown. Which did not disappoint - LOVE fireworks - I forgot how loud they were though! After that we had the bright idea to go to Baskin Robbins - got there barely before they closed - but I don't know why I thought this would be fun. We paid WAY too much for single scoops and I'm sorry - but I would've been happier with soft serve icecream - just saying. Anyhow - it was a fun Fourth - and it was a nice spontaneous family holiday.

Go to the doctor tomorrow - it's "meet one of our other doctors" day - so I'm sure it will short sweet and awkward. I doubt they are doing anything besides making sure that there is still a heartbeat - but if there's anything worth noting - I will.
