William By Numbers, the last edition

The day has finally come.  Our little pepito has taken 12 photos in white onesies.  He is officially a kid now.  No more baby.  And as exciting as that is, I am just a little sad that the baby-ness is gone.  He was such a precious baby.  By far the most beautiful child I have ever seen, and I KNOW I'm biased, but still - he was gorgeous right from the beginning.  And I can't even believe how much more handsome he has gotten every single month.  Such a pretty baby kid.  But, of course, you expect the momma to feel this way - so I will move on.

I am amazed at how much he has learned and been able to accomplish in just one year.  You read the milestones before you give birth, and as the months go along, but it never occurs to you, or atleast it didn't to me, that they have to LEARN how to do it all and watching the wheels turn as they figure everything out is just AWESOME, in every sense of the word.  I could watch him all day if I had the time.

I find myself appreciating it so much more when he WANTS me to hold and cuddle him (he's been having a serious Daddy phase of late) and letting him sleep on me five minutes longer before I put him down for a nap.  There is going to be a time when, much too soon I'm afraid, when he doesn't want anything to do with cuddles and I'm trying to make the most of it while it lasts.

All in all - it's been a wonderful year.  At times I thought I'd never survive and being a mommy is definitely the hardest thing I've ever done, but certainly the most rewarding.  His smiles and giggles really do make moments stand still and we are so blessed.

Enough sappy mommy time;  Here are the last month's highlights:

*Pepito learned to walk on July 16.  He took very few tester steps and it seemed that overnight he decided that he could walk clear across rooms/houses and he has not slowed down since.  It is exhausting keeping up with him and it's only been 2 weeks of trying.
*Eats all kinds of finger foods.  Eggs are a favorite, as are spinach and cheese tortellini.
*Could still survive on puffs if we let him.  By the handful.  Atleast he will eat them off the floor after he drops 5 of the 6 he picks up.  It's hilarious though - we say "you want some puffs?" and he walks himself straight to the corner of the coffee table where we always put them out.  Pavlov's dog kid at its best!
*Can say Ball, Mama, Daddee, UhOh, Bye
*Waves Bye Bye with his entire arm
*Claps every time you say "Yay William!"  Thankyou Mimi for teaching him that one!  So cute!
*Follows social cues well - if he senses that he made us laugh - he will laugh too - but it's his forced laugh/cackle not his completely tickled with himself laugh
*Loves to bang his hands on tables, faces, anything really
*Knocks on glass doors to get people's attention
*Has been completely and successfully weened off formula and is now drinking whole milk like a pro - from a sippy cup - that he is giving himself
*Loves Apple Juice with water - or as we call it "Baby Crack"  Our pediatrician isn't wild about juice and actually told us not to give him any but - yeah - we did.  We also gave him real milk before he was actually a year old - we're "hood" like that...haha
*Does NOT like sand.  AT ALL.  Don't even try to put his feet in it.  Seriously.  He DOES like the ocean though.
*LOVES LOVES LOVES the pool.  He flat chills out in his float - all leaned back and relaxed
*Finally came to terms with wearing a hat.  Which is good, because that kid is still basically bald.
*But what hair he does have - is red and curls in the back.  Adorable.
*He gets very antsy if he has to sit in a shopping cart for too long.  Only problem with that is that when you put him down to let him walk he doesn't follow direction yet and I end up chasing him all over creation.  But if I left him in the cart he would be screaming bloody murder, so I guess I'm happy to be exhausted...
*Likes his kid size plastic cups in the bathtub and pool - much better play things than actual bath toys.
*Prefers his Daddy over all others, and prefers men over women in general.  I'm not sure what to make of this.  Though, if he falls down and hurts himself - he wants his mommy.  Atleast I have that.
*Looks just like his Daddy.  I guess that I'm also willing to give this point up, but it hurts me a little. ;)
*Was called a "tank" by another dad at the beach - Sam has never been prouder.  And we're thinking that will probably be his football nickname. ha.
*Loves to watch traffic.
*When he gets really wound up he literally runs in circles.  Literally.
*Has the same bedtime routine as when he was itty bitty.  Swaddle, Fox News, Milk, Rocking, Sleepy Blanket, Bed.
*Loves Burnie the cat.  And if asked "What sound does Burnie make?" "Meow?" he will give you a high pitched short squeal - so cute.
*Is definitely going to be a climber.  God help us.
*Does not like to have his face washed or his ears cleaned.  This makes me crazy - I have a thing about ear wax...
*Is an absolute tornado.  Good thing I've given up on having a clean house.
*Is still wearing 12 month clothes, unless it's a romper - then the 12 months are getting a little too short... but he is FINALLY in 12 month pants!!  (not sure how he got called a tank...)
*I think he weighs somewhere around 21-22 pounds - we go to the one year well check on the 12th...
*Loves to share popsicles and icecream with mommy
*His most favorite play toy ever? Empty water bottles that he digs out of the trash can.  I still don't know why we buy him real toys.
*He picked out his own toy for the first time at Target this past weekend - his choice? A glittery orange ball.
*Tries to have (loud) conversations with other babies/kids.  From across the room at a restaurant or across the grocery store.  Some times they talk back.  All times I get strange looks from people without children.
*Still only has two teeth. But he uses them to their full potential.
*Loves graham crackers.  And Ritz crackers.  All crackers in general really.
*Broke his first pretty thing of Mommy & Daddy's.  One of our blue chevron stripe vases.  I wanted to cry.  He did.  But only because I locked him in the living room while I cleaned it up.
*Plays peek-a-boo with his sleepy blanket or newspaper.  And loves it.
*He has learned the word No.  And while he doesn't necessarily always obey it - he WILL say it back to you if he disagrees.  If it wasn't so cute it'd be frustrating.
*Still razzes like his life depends on it.
*Learned how to stick his tongue out at us.
*Likes to put his hands into the baby food and then run them through his hair.  I think he knows that it will earn him a one way ticket to the bath and he'll get to play with the plastic cups.
*Hams it up for an audience.  He pulls out all the stops and all the "tricks" he knows.  Get him alone with just us - he screams and cries.  Rotten spoiled child.  ;)
*Discovered that kitchen doors and drawers can be opened and that there are fun things inside at the beach house with their "modern easy open doors."  This gave him a lightbulb moment and now he can open our "retro" kitchen cabinets.  We are installing child proof lock immediately.  Boo.
*Is absolutely obsessed with clothing price tags.  He locks on and HAS to have them.  We did a little outlet shopping at the beach and while I was perusing Clearance, Sam said that he kept "visiting" one specific tag that hung on his level.  Hilarious.  If he finds them on the floor - he'll carry them around for ever.

That's all we can think of.  Like it was a short list - ha!  I'll be surprised if anyone made it through all of it - sorry for the super long post.  But I figured that since this was the last monthly update I'm going to do - I better get it all in there.

William by Numbers

I can't believe how fast the past 11 months have gone by - Here are the highlights of the past month:

*Cruises like a pro but pretty much prefers to crawl.  It's much faster
*Will let go and stand on his own for a couple seconds - I think I might've seen him try to make a step out but it was promptly followed by falling so who knows what came first - falling or stepping
*Will eat pretty much anything put in front of him.  Especially homemade mac and cheese - "your baby smells like chedda"
*Really enjoys watching the big kids and trying to play with them.  Though that usually prompts a lesson in sharing for one, if not all, of the kids involved.
*Discovered the painful perils of a tushie abcess.  Not fun for anyone involved and results in a black and blue bottom.  Also, it made him terrified of any hands going in that general direction.
*He has TWO bottom teeth now!
*Remembers how to sleep through the night most nights now.  Thank goodness.
*Has some awesome war wound calluses on his knees and feet due to being unafraid of crawling on hard surfaces.
*Prefers fruit flavored puffs to cheerios - but who can blame him?!
*Says mama, dada, and ball - plus a whole lot of indistinguishable words/sounds
*Loves to scream and "scare" us - it's hilarious
*Really enjoys swimming but doesn't like to when he's tired
*Still wants a bedtime of 6-6:30
*Can throw a ball back to us when we play instead of just holding it waiting for us to take it from him
*Razzing is still his number one favorite activity
*Recently figured out how to snort and he truly believes that it makes his crying more pitiful
*Has found his tongue and shows it to us frequently now - too cute!
*Still refusing to feed himself a bottle.  He's definitely going to be THAT kid.  I have no idea how to get him to do it, he knows how, but would prefer to sit in my lap and let me hold it.
*Finally broke into the twenties - he's around 21 lbs - but still such a squirt
*Loves to give sugars and will almost do it on command
*Magnets are the coolest things ever and he really likes to put them in his mouth and then crawl around.  Thank goodness the alphabet magnets are not small enough to be a choking hazard!
*Likes to go exploring in the trash much to his mommy's displeasure.  Empty coke cases are the best (and one of the few that he is allowed to pull from the trash)
*Really likes to toddle around with his walking car thing but doesn't like that our house is small and he continually gets stopped by running into furniture and walls.
*Can put himself to sleep for naptime and bedtime - no rocking required - unless he is sick and then you better not even think about putting him in the crib for naptime - he only wants to be held.  Which is so sweet, so I was happy to indulge him for a couple days.

I can't think of anything else.  I know there is plenty of adorable things that he has accomplished but my brain has shut down...so there you go.  He just gets cuter and sweeter each day  - we are having the best time!

William By Numbers

June 3.  Seriously - it's already here?  The sixth month of the year?  How in the world did that happen without me noticing?!

William is 10 months old and these are the highlights:

*Has graduated from the military crawl to a real-on-his-knees crawl.  And he is FAST!!  That kid can move fo'sure!
*Being outside is his happy place.  We can be having the worst day ever, full of fussiness and evil, but if we go sit outside and play - all is right in the world.  Now if it would only stop raining so the yard would dry out that would be helpful.
*Spent the long Memorial Day weekend at Grandaddy & Mima's house and kept them up at all hours of the night but had a great time just the same
*I think he's had two ear infections this month - I'm not sure - I'm losing count and my mind
*No longer uses the walker to get around the house.  This was not his decision though, I'm sure he'd rather have it and stay cleaner, oh wait - that's probably me - but we're trying to teach him how to balance better so we got him one of those standing/rolling/walking things
*Still loves PBS and we are excited that they've started playing Bob the Builder & Thomas the Train during the weekdays and not just Saturday.  The same episode of Curious George was getting old.
*HOW COULD I MISS THIS?!!  He has FINALLY cut a tooth!!  You can't really see it yet - but I can certainly feel it - especially since he still insists on gnawing on my chin all day.  Ouch!
*He switched pediatricians, which I already talked about, and so far, we are fairly pleased.  I'm a little irritated the nurses don't believe how BAD it is going to be if we run out of ear drops, but I'll deal with that tomorrow...
*Is constantly filthy.  There is no way I can prevent this.  I could clean until my ears bleed from the toxic chemicals and he would still have dirty scuff marks on the top of his feet.  I've let this go and only give him unscheduled emergency baths before he sees B&B - they like to compare his feet to his Daddy's and it's not nice...funny, but not nice.
*He is fascinated by the bathroom and darts in there every moment we aren't looking.  And he thinks it's fun to stand in the tub.  It's starting to become like the changing table - impossible.
*Had a tiny bout of diaper rash brought on, I hope, by antibiotics. - so yes, two ear infections...
*Loves to ride in the bike trailer behind Daddy or Grandaddy.  He gets in his zone.
*Is an absolute tornado - walking between furniture like it's his job, tearing out toys all over the living room, chasing the cat, eating magazines & Mommy's school notes, and leaving a trail of puffs behind him.   God help us when he can walk.
*Is still pretty much refusing to hold his own bottle, though I did get him to do it the other day but I still had to hold him in my lap - NOT a success.  Oh well.
*Will only drink water out of a sippy cup - the pediatrician is not going to be happy if we can't get that to change.
*LOVES WATERMELON!!  And note to mommies with teethers - cut up watermelon into little sticks and freeze them - William will actually keep the cold melon in his mouth and come back for more.  Success!  He never really grasped the whole cold teething ring so this is great!  I do have a sticky pink mess to clean up in the kitchen though - use with caution.
*Took his first fall off our bed a couple days ago.  He didn't get hurt - just seriously frightened.  Daddy pulled something in his back diving over the bed to try and catch him though - old man... ;)  love ya babe!
*Loves to eat remotes/slash anything else that looks expensive and technology related - ie phones...
*Also loves keys and my leather wallet though - so that works in our favor - except that he discovered the debit/credit cards inside and MUCH prefers those...
*Doesn't have any idea what to do with the chunks of food in the "third foods" - he just spits it out.  Yuck.
*Has been waking up at all hours of the night due to either teething or painful ears or both at the same time.
*Waves Hello & Bye Bye and uses his whole arm to do it
*Has started pointing randomly and usually makes a really cute face to go with it
*We are convinced he has created his own very secret language and is putting sentences together in his head about whatever it is babies think about because the noises coming out of his mouth sound like he thinks he's saying something
*Still razzes like his life depends on it
*Chased Mima's cat up three stairs before he realized what he had done and was none too happy that he couldn't figure out how to get back down
*Basically the same food schedule, though with all the head pain that he's been going through it's been a little interesting.  5-6 oz bottles, baby food and scraps, yum yum.
*Seriously, does not sit still.  Especially when I'm trying to take his picture.

William By Numbers

Today marks the day that my sweet pepito is 3/4 of a year old - wild to think about!!!  And he WOULD NOT sit still for this month's picture - oh well - it's honest documentation!!

Highlights of the month:
*Can now effectively get food into his mouth using his hands, granted it's really just been puffs, wagon wheels, and the occasional fruit piece, but he's good at it.
*Loves all baby food, except for any combinations that have tomato paste in it.  I hope he gets over this because I could eat pasta every single night for dinner and be totally happy.
*Is pulling himself up, in the crib, at the coffee table, anything that has legs or a ledge for him to grab onto
*Will "walk" between pieces of furniture now
*Razzing is still his favorite
*Practically runs if someone will hold his hands for balance, it's hard to keep up with him
*Is an absolute tornado in his walker
*Takes only two naps a day now, long one in the morning and shorter in the afternoon
*2-3 baby food meals a day with 6 oz bottles about 5 times
*Bedtime is still relatively easy (around 6-7), but he's been waking up several times after we put him down.  We're going to start treating it as First Bedtime and letting him get up and see if that helps.
*Loves to chase all cats.  The cats do not appreciate it.
*Does not really care for dog kisses
*Has learned how to fall butt first to minimize damage and fear ;)
*Follows me around all day, either crawling or in his walker
*Still does a super cute military crawl, but he can get around!  The farthest he's gone so far is from the tv in the living room to the threshold between the dining room & kitchen - it's a long way for a baby!
*He is still completely toothless
*Wears 12 months clothes unless it's shorts or pants - then I think he has FINALLY graduated from 3-6 month size - maybe....he's such a squirt
*Loves to ride in the buggy
*Is enjoying the new vantage point from his big boy carseat
*Loves to be outside, we can sit on the stairs and just watch the traffic, etc and he'll be completely happy
*Hasn't really added any new 'words', still saying B,M,D, and vowels.
*Giggles uncontrollably at anything his Daddy says
*Thinks that balloons are the funniest things ever
*LOVES carbs - give him a piece of bread or biscuit and he's content (and an absolute mess)
*Is constantly trying to rollover and sit up on the changing table now - it's impossible to change his diaper - I miss the "happy place"
*Really enjoys bath time - especially if I let him eat the washcloth
*Sleeps with a paci and we give him one whenever he wants it, but sometimes he prefers his fingers, he doesn't like that he can't talk with one in his mouth!
*He's finally starting to get some (red) hair - it gets all curly and wispy after a bath - so cute!

William By Numbers

Sweet William is 8 months old!! 2/3 of the way through his first year - kinda crazy right?!

This month's highlights:
*Has totally rejected homemade baby food - he literally gagged on the sweet potatoes which were his favorite
*Now eats green veggies, including peas.  Really he eats it all and loves it.  Corn, mango, peaches, green beans, etc etc etc...
*Will gnaw on anything
*Prefers to play with his bottle caps instead of his hundreds of toys; also prefers paper, boxes, and tin foil to toys
*Eats magazines, especially Southern Living before Mommy gets to read it
*Will now walk if you hold his hands instead of just standing
*Is a master at the "tummy pivot" - he spins a complete 360', he also does this sitting on his bum
*Is very handsy when being fed - he thinks he does a much better job with the spoon than his parents
*Slowly moved himself to two naps a day
*Moved his bedtime to 6:30-7:00 and is now sleeping through the night again more frequently
*Pretty sure he's getting taller and not wider - it's becoming impossible to find pants that fit his waist
*Wants to crawl but hasn't quite figured it out yet (btw - this changed right after the month cutoff...)
*Loves to talk walks in the stroller but no longer falls asleep that way
*Really wishes that Burnie liked him
*Tears through the house in his walker; door trim, coffee table, and pretty thing beware!
*Can say BaBa & MaMa - though I'm pretty sure he hasn't associated those words with anything in particular...
*Lights up when Daddy comes home
*Has replaced smiling with the ever popular razz - Sam calls it his "purr" - you know he's happy
*Still refuses to hold his own bottle but loves his sippy cups with water
*We made the executive decision to stop the baby Zantac and rice in the bottle - he's fine without it
*Is still a gum baby - no teeth yet
*His hair is finally starting to come in - couple long RED strands on top
*Thinks it is hilarious when Daddy/Mommy "barks"
*Is rediscovering how to "cry it out" - apparently I've been spoiling him and he has forgotten how
*Can sit very happily in the middle of the floor with no toys - he pretends to be an airplane and pumps his arms up and down excitedly
*Is start to do a "wave" motion, sometimes even at the appropriate time
*When he sees someone he wants (even if he doesn't know them) he literally jumps/throws himself towards them
*Walks around clucking (using his tongue from the roof of his mouth...y'know what I mean)
*Will only go to sleep with his green fluffy blanket

He is an absolute doll and the closer we get to fulltime daycare in the summer, the more I cherish staying home.  He is so fun and cute.  Makes us both laugh constantly.

Pepito is seven months old as of March 3. His picture is a little late because he spent a glorious week with Grandaddy & Mima (and Mimi - one of his great grandmothers) I know that he loved being there and vice versa. Though my Dad has finally deemed him a "fussy" baby. I feel a little vindicated. ;)

It's hard to remember where six months left off and seven months began but I'll see if I can try.

*Is now an absolute pro at sitting up by himself. By the end of the month - he rarely falls over
*Loves all fruit, bananas, pears, apples, peaches, and apparently fig preservatives in tasting bits
*Can usually be found toodling around the house in his walker happy as can be and can now jump all thresholds in the house
*Makes lots of letter sounds - all vowels, B, "hey" sound, is working on M & D
*Razzes like his life depends on it
*Giggles when poked, tickled, "munched on"
*Still lights up at "boop!"
*Was on a 2 hour awake, 1 hour sleep schedule (he's in the process of changing this)
*Bedtime used to be 5:30 - 6:00 (changing this one too)
*Teething like a maniac but still has NO teeth
*Has discovered Burnie and wants to touch her, Burnie doesn't like it so much but is tolerating in small doses
*Has surely passed 18lbs by now, my arms can attest to that
*Still prefers to be naked
*Has rediscovered peeing into air
*Does not like loud noises AT ALL. This includes mommy reacting to the above point.
*Will drink water out of sippy cup all by himself but refuses to feed himself a bottle
*Can sit in a buggy or carseat and loves the new vantage point
*Seems to be long waisted
*Still loves to eat wet wipes and all paper products, including handmade Valentine's Day cards...
*On Baby Zantac, which seems to be helping A LOT, but only if given before 4:00pm - apparently it has some kind of stimulant in it - yep, learned that one the hard way

That's all I can think of at the moment. I'm braindead from anatomy (which is OVER next Monday!! atleast for two weeks anyhow)

William is an absolute joy. And I'm secretly enjoying the clingy baby behavior that being gone has produced. Though, I did find it very difficult to hold him and brush my teeth. Spitting out over a moving foot proved to be interesting...

And the Magic Number Is....

SIX!!

My little pepito is six months old today and the difference between a month ago and today is seriously like magic. Two days ago he began being happy (for atleast twenty minutes!!) playing by himself. I cannot even begin to tell y'all how exciting this is for me. After months and months of trying my best to keep him entertained and, well, just shooting for relatively happy, he can now do it on his own. Case and point - right this very minute he is playing in his crib, no screaming, crying, nothing. He is talking to himself and playing with a handful of toys. It is truly amazing. There IS light at the end of this tunnel!!

The Six Month Rundown:

*Has found and loves his feet
*Is now on medicine for reflux and it seems to be helping - though we won't truly know for two weeks
*Wears 6-9 month clothes
*Weighed 16lbs 12ozs at the doctor last week
*Only likes his bottles warm
*Love all baby food EXCEPT peas
*Everything goes in his mouth
*Has noticed Burnie the cat, and she has acknowledged him
*Hasn't screamed while in the car in a very long time
*Really enjoys taking walks in the jogging stroller
*Hilbert the blue elephant is his new favorite buddy
*Likes to sleep with his head in the corner of the crib and will move there if you put him down anywhere else
*Can't wait for warmer weather so he can be naked all the time
*Splashing in the bathtub is the MOST fun
*Likes to help cook (eat wooden spoons and sit on the countertop in the bumpo)
*Squeals in delight
*Laughs when tickled on the changing table
*Checks to make sure Daddy is watching him play
*Horrible teething has taken a backseat for the moment
*There is a top tooth about to break through
*Loves to chew on Mommy's chin
*Prefers to be standing
*Still rocking the size 3 diapers
*Really enjoys pulling his socks off
*Still too skinny (and short) for many of his pants
*Has been mistaken for a girl recently, but I think that's because I was buying pink fabric to make a dress for a friend's baby...
*Moved up to the bigger and better 6 month MAM pacis
*Grabbing things with two hands, holding on to them, and putting them in his mouth
*Is mesmerized by both his mobiles and really upset that Mommy won't let him pull on the feather balls
*Loves his walker and has been able to "jump" thresholds
*Knows the PBS commercial song
*Enjoys Curious George in the morning
*Bedtime is not as easy as it used to be because he would rather play
*Two hours awake, One-ish hour nap is our general schedule still
*Prefers to be rocked to sleep
*Does not travel well without music, specifically Baby Einstein Mozart
*Is really close to sitting up by himself
*Still shows no interest in flipping back to tummy
*Does all the right moves for crawling - just not simultaneously

Those are the highlights but mainly the being happy part is what is changing our life, my life. I'm glad I held on (not that I had a choice - ha!) the past six months to get to this and I'm convinced it can only get better and more fun. He's a darling little boy and I am happy to say that I am looking forward to the next six months!

William by Numbers

Our sweet little William is five months old today. Everyone says it but it's amazing how fast time goes by. And I was thinking - when you're five months pregnant I felt like I had been pregnant for FOREVER! Yet - I definitely don't feel like we've had William for FOREVER! (most days anyhow...some are longer than others...) Just thought that was interesting.

Let's see - in the past month William has:

Rediscovered his affinity for razzing - only this time it's accompanied with actual spit. Hilarious when he gets going but the amount of liquid coming out of his mouth is astounding.

We moved up to size 3 diapers. Not sure his little body was quite ready for it but we needed to buy some and didn't see any sense in buying 264 diapers in a size that was almost too small and we don't like to waste money buying smaller packs. So - he has purple harlequin diapers that look humongous on him.

He really likes to walk, stand, generally be on his feet. He loves playing in the jumper especially now that his shoes fit.

EVERYTHING MUST BE TASTED. It's crazy - he can now grab at things and they always go in the mouth first.

Naked time still rocks.

He got a walker for Christmas and he thinks he's king of the world - until he runs into a corner, chair, wall, small object that impedes his progress.

The swaddler is not always the saving grace it used to be.

He can roll from his tummy to his back but not the other way around.

The word BOOP always produces a smile and usually laughter. Hence - we now call him Boo Boo. Poor guy - let's hope it doesn't stick.

We had a brief stint when he refused to sleep through the night. He remembered how only to be bombarded by the holiday musical houses - we're still trying to recover for the most part.

LOVES FRUIT. Apples & Bananas are the fave so far.

Is getting more hair and it's definitely going to be some kind of red.

Daddy is still the expert at bedtime. Mommy is the expert all day. ;)

Is still constantly amused by recreational yelling. It's not funny anymore.

Cannot ride in the car without Baby Einstein Mozart cd and a ridiculous amount of toys suspended from the seat handle.

Most days - we don't have to change his outfit. He hardly spits up or wets through his diaper.

Pooping still rules our life. He MUST poop or my life is miserable (and I'm sure his is as well)

Loves his paci. He knows how to take it out and put it in backwards. We're working on that slowly...

He most certainly teething - no teeth coming through - but thank goodness for tylenol and orajel. There are days where we wouldn't survive without it.

I'm sure there are plenty more adorable and noteworthy things that he has done in the past month - but I'm done.

Happy Fifth Month Baby Boy!

Four Months!!

Our sweet little boy is 4 months old and weighs a whopping 14 lbs 14 oz (and the pain in my back will prove it!) In a week and a half we will know how tall he is - I only know the weight because we are all sick and they always weigh him when we go to the doctor.

Notes of possible interest:

He has never had diaper rash. Thank goodness.

He has already has a great scar from surgery to brag about later in life.

He only gets sick when I am sick - not surprising since we spend 24 hours together.

He left colic behind only to chase it with early teething. Yay for us.

He is still not on a schedule - unless you count expected randomness. He doesn't eat as much as he should for his age and doesn't sleep enough during the day - atleast for my tastes... But he's obviously gaining weight and is usually an absolute joy - so we're chalking this one up to good parenting anyway.

He is ahead of his time as far as "What to Expect the First Year" says he should be able to do. Or maybe that's just us being proud parents - but we, of course, prefer to think of him as a genius.

He is quite the show off. He will behave like a perfect cooing angel if he knows someone, besides his parents, is watching.

He is probably one of the most well documented baby ever. We took in excess of 819 pictures of him in November. Granted, a lot of them are 50 pictures of the same "event"....

And to add to the list of pictures - William by numbers:

Headed to the mountains

I'm going to Cleveland for the weekend to stay with my parents and see my high school friends. We were all supposed to stay with Macy at St. Simons this weekend but that fell apart because it's such a long trip for all of us. It turns out though - that most of us will be in Cleveland instead - so it worked out perfectly. We can all save money and stay with our parents and no one will have to try and sleep through babies (my baby) screaming all night.

Seriously - it took us 8 HOURS to get him to sleep last night. He cried and screamed the entire time. Not a good time. He finally went to sleep at 4:30. Sam's boss pointed out that we have teething still to look forward to. God help us.

Sam is staying in Columbus because of project fever and painting the kitchen cabinets. More on this later I am sure. It's so funny how the fever just showed up for both us and we've got it bad. We bought an inexpensive Singer sewing machine and I can't wait for my stepmom to show me how to use this weekend. I've been dreaming for years about being able to sew and do all the crafty projects - and an extra perk will be simple window treatments and pillows once I feel confident enough to cut into my fabric. This will be the hardest part - I'm very attached to all of it and am scared to death I won't cut it correctly and lose it forever. I'll probably end up measuring not only twice but a dozen times. Irrational fear.

So wish me luck driving 3.5 hours in the middle of the night up to Cleveland and that he doesn't repeat last night all weekend.

And he turns two months old tomorrow!! He's getting so big!

I'm really trying...

...to get on here and write a decent update post but I just don't have the time or the energy. Just to explain, quickly, last week William was ridiculously fussy, ALL WEEK. Sam texted my mom to get her to come down and help since Dad had the flu -and thank goodness she did. Long story short - I broke down and called the peditrician and took him in on Friday. He has colic/gas issues. So it wasn't all in my head - which was a huge relief! We got a prescription for stronger gas drops and life has been better.

I knew we would have a colicky baby. I'm just glad that I didn't try and deal with it alone for more than a week. We are nazis about him getting that medicine now...

My dad came down this week - because even though he has the medicine he's still really upset about his tummy and isn't sleeping well. I'm not looking forward to having to do this alone again next week - it's going to be an adjustment.

We're going to Cleveland for the weekend so all the extended family can meet William. Maybe I'll try and write more tomorrow - but don't hold your breath - I have to pack up the entire house, including the kitchen sink, for the trip.. ;)

Oh - and little man was One Month Old on Monday; though I guess technically he was 4 weeks old on Monday...

He's such a cute kid... :) Love him.
